dodgeball dangerous?

In my physical education class we continued to play dodge ball every year since i was in fourth grade. The teachers never thought dodge ball was too dangerous because if there was a student that got out of hand he was put into time out. There were also many different variations that the teachers made up. There was doctor dodge ball and there was backboard bombardment that took the idea of continually hitting people and instead hitting the backboard. Every time you hit it two people were allowed back in the game and in doctor dodge ball there are two doctors who have to drag the person who has been hit on a scooter back to the end line. Dodge ball is huge on psychomotor cognitive and affective skills. No matter how dangerous it is you learn catching and throwing, running around, court awareness, team building, and cardiovascular endurance. I believe dodge ball should be left in school because it is a fun game that is loaded with lessons and skills needed for everyday life or for other sports that the kids will play.
